The countryside around Confolens is beautiful and unspoilt. It is truly the land of oak and granite. It is also the land of rivers and lakes. There are plenty of walks and bike rides in this region. I would be happy to advise on particular areas good for photography or painting for example.The river Vienne flows South to North. The River is extremely dynamic being fed from the Massif Central region of France. At times it can appear almost like a lake, almost no movement. Other times in spring when the snows of the Massif Central are melting it can be a raging torrent. I am currently gathering information regarding the history and nature of this fantastic river. I will post here as soon as complete.
